THE PURPOSE OF THE BLOOD OF JESUS CHRIST

Aps. Prof. Kwabena Agyapong-Koduah (Vice Chancellor)

Communion service,a sacred time for remembering the sacrifice that empowers believers to live above weakness, fulfilled this purpose by reminding believers of the power they receive through His death and resurrection. The revered Vice Chancellor of the Pentecost University, Apostle Professor Kwabena Agyapong-Kodua, delivered a stirring message on the theme: “The Purpose of the Blood.”

With clarity, he declared from Hebrews 9:22 that without the shedding of blood, there is no forgiveness. This divine mystery of redemption unfolded emphazised that the blood of Jesus was not merely spilled but was shed with purpose.

He taught that the greatest enemy of man is sin. Sin, he explained, separates humanity from God, as affirmed in Isaiah 59:2. It denies access to divine blessings and burdens the soul with guilt. Sin empowers satan to accuse and deteriorate the spirit like a slow-growing cancer. And above all, sin demands death, as solemnly warned in Ezekiel 18:4.

Yet, in the face of this grim reality, the blood of Jesus stands as the surest answer. Everything that brings a person down, he declared, is rooted in the consequences of sin. But thanks be to God, the blood has dealt with sin completely, granting us the power to triumph over it, no longer enslaved by its shackles.

Apostle Prof. Kodua explained that the blood speaks to three realms: to God, to man, and to satan. To God, it restores fellowship and appeases divine wrath,as God in love, offered His Son to preserve humanity from judgment. To man, the blood cleanses guilt, sanctifies the soul, and draws the believer near to God. Hebrews 9:14 and Colossians 1:20–22 affirm that through the blood, the conscience is purified, and death becomes not an end, but a gateway to glory.

However, to satan, the blood is a declaration of defeat because his accusations always fail. Though the accuser continues his work, the blood speaks louder and  better things : freedom, purity, and victory. Until Christ returns, satan will not cease his accusations, but the believer must stand firm in the power of the blood.

The implication of this sacrifice, Apostle Prof. Kodua concluded, is a call to live in holiness and abstain from all forms of impurity.
